Re: Are you ready to have your computer slowed by 5 to 30%?

Yes!

I have a customer with ~30 users all using Windows 7. The computers are
in good shape but are about four years old. When they have to add a new
computer I have two choices:
- Current technology with Windows 10 Pro
- Old technology with Windows 7 Pro.

Neither choices are all that appealing. It's a small comfort knowing
I'm not alone in this situation.

Win 10 is such a bloated stinkin' pile of ****

I've actually recently built an Acer Aspire with Windows 7 so I can do some stuff....otherwise I tend to stick with openSUSE, even at work....

Hi
I concur, just rebuilt a Dell 10" Inspiron from scratch and of course
windows want to upgrade to the latest version, system has a 32GB eMMC
after the update, just with all the WinX carp.... 12GB left for the
user... crazy! I see my HP is complaining that it wants to update but
the 3GB of free space isn't enough (a 32GB eMMC)... time to wipe it
off... and stick with the SSD and SLED 15....

Hey ScorpionSting:

>Remember Clippy?

hehe...yes I do. Cortana is MS attempt to mimic Amazon Alexa or Google Home.
I have Win10 on a couple of machines. Cortana is disabled as it's superfluous.

The old trick of renaming the directories under \Windows\SystemApps does more than disable the stoooopid thing....I use that trick to kill both Edge and Cortana

We'll probably get more patched shutting down more of the processors' abilities
making things still slower.
