Bye bye Palm

The days of my Treo are numbered. I just pre-ordered an "incredible" new
phone. Boy I hope that Mobility tech preview works--no more GMS safety
net for me!

Re: Bye bye Palm

Bye bye indeed! Latest rumor is that lenovo is the Frontrunner to buy it!

But I don't know if I want China making my phone for me. 🙂

I hinted at it in my post... the HTC Incredible. 🙂

Yeah, saw that. I really don't know what they're going to bring to the
table. Too bad things fell apart with HTC, as they'd be a great buyer
IMO.

Then again just yesterday Rubenstein said he thinks they can go it
alone. His idea now is to license out WebOS. Too little, too late? Who
knows. But he says they have plenty of devices in the pipeline, and they
need them. The Pre is nearly 1.5 years old now.

I just don't want to get stuck with a Pre Plus if things turn for the
worst at Palm. Too bad as I really like the Pre (and presumably would
like the Pre Plus). Not sure that I'll dig the virtual keyboard on this
new phone. Time to adapt?

Re: Bye bye Palm

Would it be verboten if I brought up my old analogy to Novell & Netware?

Both venerable institutions....but to answer your question, I am in the
process of adapting all over the place. 🙂

I'm "adapting" to Windows and Exchange as we speak!

You mean they don't already?
I'd imagine any number of components in your phone are
fabbed in China.

I hadn't heard about that one. Looks nice...but you'll have to let us
know after you get it if it really is incredible. 🙂

Nah, it's very similar. But just as many people have declared Novell
dead in the past, Palm ain't gone until their gone.

Re: Bye bye Palm

Always true! Most things that seem eternal are not, especially in business.

That being said, my wife and I have Pre's and they work great.

Anyone see the leaked info on Dell's smart phone? Portrait slider like
the pre. I like that a lot compared to the landscape sliders, however
the dell phone looks significantly longer and I wonder if with the
weight that will get very bouncy as you're trying to type.

Yeah, if it weren't for my concerns about the future of Palm as a
company I'd definitely have a tough time choosing between the
Incredible, the Pre Plus, or possibly some other future Palm phone
released later this year.
