Re: Disclaimer/Signature

If I told you it would be support. 🙂

Naaah, just Groupwise. But I don't think I want to use the native stuff (I
understand it appends for all email, not just internet emails?)

So I was envisioning a gateway, that would add HTML and a disclaimer to all
non-internal addresses.

Got one?

Go over to the GW7/GW8 forums and ask about Global Signatures for the
GWIA .....

Re: Disclaimer/Signature

I love disclaimers at the bottom of e-mail that say a bunch of crap
about what will happen to you if you read this e-mail and you weren't
the intended recipient.

First off if you send the e-mail to the wrong person it's your fault and
not theirs. If the disclaimer is at the bottom of the e-mail then
chances are they read the e-mail before reading the disclaimer. Lastly,
as of the last time I heard, disclaimers aren't enforceable in a court
of law. So basically they are useless unless they simply tell a person
how to notify the sender of his/her error.

Theres always a good possibility that I'm hugely mistaken of course. 😄

Now with that said. If a person was to e-mail an encrypted message to a
wrong recipient with an unencrypted disclaimer at the top of the e-mail
and the wrong recipient was to then make efforts to hack the encrypted
e-mail instead of notifying the sender of the mistake then one might
have a case I would think.

We use the SYmantec Brightmail Gateway for all of our border AV/AS needs.
It has the capacity to do disclaimers on our outbound mail. As this is an
appliance rather than an on-server product, it'll work for Exchange,
Groupwise, Postfix, Netmail, Sendmail, or anything that supports
forwarding to a smart-host.

We don't add disclaimers, but we could. If we wanted to.

Re: Disclaimer/Signature

I have BM as part of our subscription and had originally intended to do the
same thing (I still may). We'd need to use it on a Windows server though,
and it would be at the colo. So, I'd need to probably get a VM going over
there to make some room, etc. I was half tempted to just throw in any old
relay that could add the sig/disclaimer, logo.

Thanks!
