Do Sales people have to lie?

Is it some kind of genetic malformation that they can't simply list the
parts and prices and try to ensure that the thing you're buying will do
the job you want???? And why can't they say they don't know if they
don't know????

I can offer you a better sales experience!

1. No lies! None! Our old salesmen have been surgically altered
to prevent lying. Our new ones are genetically engineered from
birth without the capability of lying.

2. Low price guarantee. If you get a better price, even a better
lie, anywhere else, we'll beat that price or lie by 20%!

3. Best value. We don't publish our prices because they are
so, so low!!

4. Satisfaction guaranteed. If what you buy doesn't meet your
expectations, you can return it and we'll provide you with
a prorated refund or double Ultra Mega Bucks!

If you sign up now, we'll give 2,000,000 Ultra Mega Bucks which
can be used JUST LIKE CASH at supporting locations. Who else
can provide you with a quick $2 million just to get your business?

Re: Do Sales people have to lie?

Maybe itemizing every once in a while? Not adding warranties when not
requested?

I had someone call me to refinance. They said that I had requested they
call me a month ago. Imagine my surprise!

🙂

This might be hard to believe but I actually knew/worked with a salesman
who lived by the biblical expression "and the truth shall set you free".
The guy was as honest as the day was long. When the our company hired
him some people made fun of him. The interesting thing is that we always
made money and had good results on every project he sold. This was
unlike the other sales people who would say anything or make any promise
to get the sale. Some people weren't stupid and would demand what was
promised.

I stopped reading Dilbert when I was doing consulting because it was too
much like real life. Now I look at Pearls Before Swine every day.
