Hey, the web team here at Novell is working to improve the user experience on the Novell.com home page so they're looking at a re-design -- and since you folks are users with opinions 😉 we want to know how you experience it. You've already provided feedback on the header so now look at the rest of the page.

Please take a look at what our web team has come up with, and let us know what you think. Fire when ready, and don't be shy. (Like you people are ever shy...)

FYI this has already gone through some limited user testing and this reflects that feedback. Now we need more feedback from a wider audience.

See the *proposed* home page: http://www.novell.com/test/homebeta

Has anybody tried to view the page from a iPhone? I did.

It displays just fine but the text is so small that I can't read anything without zooming in ...a lot. At that point I've lost the feel for the layout of the page.

Of course, there's no mouse to hover over the drop-down menus. Once I touch a menu tab and it opens, there is no way to close it again. Touching the tab a second time has the same effect as if I were to click on it.

With so many mobile devices in use today, web designers must take them into account when developing new designs.

It's a lot more complicated than a couple of weeks time can provide.
Various people around the company have custom reports and, as you can
see, the developers are busy so evaluating is done as time permits and
as the various people that are interested in the statistics run
reports. It will probably take a few months rather than a couple of
weeks.

Hi.

>It's Novell Blue now.

One of the very top marketing rules: Never kick well known attributes, that people
associated with your company's name.

#1 missing: the color "Novell Red", and the red "N". "N" like Novell *AND* Network.
#2 missing: the Suse green.

Simply do a reality check:

Present the page for max. 0.5 Second to testing persons. I'm pretty sure, almost
*NOBODY* will associate that "quick impression" (?) with Novell.

>See the newest Novell Clients.

Same fault there.

The overall design improved a lot, congratulations!

I appreciate all the feedback received to date. I've passed it all along to the web development team. More feedback is welcome. As you can see from the new header on the web page, your feedback is listened to.

I don't know if that is related only to the new header...

I'm using FireFox and I've always has issues trying to login to the forums if I'm already logged in to other parts of the website. If I logout then login from the forum page, I seem to be logged in everywhere.

Does anyone else have this problem with Opera? Aspirer, have you tried
clearing your cache?

Re: Feedback Wanted: New novell.com home page

Trying to figure out what exactly you're asking for here.

The visual appeal isn't bad at all. Then again, when it comes to "artistic" I tend to be "autistic." I do like the mouseover java menus at the top of the page.

Like most here, I'm more concerned about quickly finding TIDs, downloading services patches (at a good speed too!), etc. In the past 10 years or so, there have been times when the Novell Marketing people haven't exactly met the expectations of the Novell Tech people, and I hope there is some conversations now to prevent that.

Your impressions, thoughts, what's good, what's bad, etc.

Kind of like that...yea.

That's exactly why I/they are coming to you to tell them what you would
change if you were king of the world.

I miss the Red N and nowhere have I seen the gekko when you arrive at the first page.

I like it, but these tired old eyes could use a little larger font selection somewhere in the menu.
