Good - Cheap - Document Management Software
My boss wants me to find a Document Management software for him that is cheap and easy to use. He is involved in a committee and wants to be able to keep his committee documents organized in his laptop for when he is at the meetings.
I have been looking on the web but nothing seems to jump out at me as being good or easy to use.
Just wondering,

I've been looking for the same thing for a long time. Still haven't
found anything. Please let us know if you do.

Re: Good - Cheap - Document Management Software
It sounds like they just want something to manage their own docs on their own pc/laptop?
As opposed to an actual document management system like what's in GroupWise, or OpenText, Documentum, etc?

If he's really just looking for file sync, then iFolder (or Kablink if he needs it to be free) should do the trick.
If you're already using GroupWise, then I have several users who use the document mgmt in there to keep all their current project stuff handy (although that requires network access, so not as good for travelling) even though we don't officially use it for document management.

Well, I never found one of those either. 😛 Didn't look that hard
though. I will suggest looking at Worldox though. Might be close to
what you want.

you will not have to listen to his incessant whining about how hungry he

Re: Good - Cheap - Document Management Software
Is it that bad/hard to setup? I'm just asking, I've not downloaded the community edition yet.
The original shipping version of teaming was a nightmare to setup/configure (IMO).

Re: Good - Cheap - Document Management Software
ooh, not good. Is it like hard to setup like anything from IBM (haha).
Or you can follow the destructions, but it just doesn't work.

Downloading an appliance and being able to install it on a clean system
are two different things. However, I say in my experience because
obviously if it was so problematic people wouldn't be using it. I've
just had no luck getting it to work on a clean OS. I've tried Ubuntu,
openSuse, CentOS, but never Windows.

Thanks!
