The American Revolution started in 1775 with the battles of Lexington and
Concord. This battle saw the famous ride of Paul Revere as he announced
that the British were coming. The American forces won this war.

The United States would formally declare its independence from Great
Britain on July 4, 1776. The war itself ended in 1783 with the signing
of the Treaty of Paris. The peace did not last, though, as the US and
Britain once again found themselves at war in 1812. This war, the "War
of 1812" actually lasted from 1812 until 1815.

Re: Hooray .. my iPad arrived 2 days early!!

I thought the American Revolution started with the Battle of Bunker
Hill, before the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

Re: Hooray .. my iPad arrived 2 days early!!

Was that when the early Americans fought to secure the rights of wealthy
landowners? Take that, Britain! 🙂

It's just that I pass by the Bunker Hill Monument (actually on Breed's
Hill, but that doesn't sound quite as cool) every time I drive into
Boston, which is quite often. 😉
