I have two monitors now

It'll take some getting used to. At present, I think its main advantage is
twice the eye strain.
But everyone wants dual monitors, so it's really *good* and I *love* it. (I
know I will, I know I will...)

Re: I have two monitors now

Dual monitor setup is great, I have most of my users setup that way, & most
of them have gone home & duplicated it.

love mstsc /span

Re: I have two monitors now

I would be crippled trying to create presentations for training without
2 monitors. Having the browser/application in one browser and the
presentation in the other....

I also use it when I am doing my time. One is the calendar, the other
the time sheet/project application.

Re: I have two monitors now

I do a ton of remote-control and Citrix work, and having the extra room to
look at some of extra windows without so much overlap is going to be nice, I
think.

My wife got a 19" flat panel monitor for Christmas. A lot of her work
work is document comparison/manipulation. She was thrilled with it.

Re: I have two monitors now

I've been doing the dual monitor thing
for a few of years now. Statistically
there is a 20-30% productivity gain. The
whole office will have them eventually I think. Everyone
that I have set up thus far has no idea how
they got along before they had two. I saw a detailed
study of it on a site where they went from 2 monitors up
to some ridiculous matrix of like 50 to see at what
point the productivity increase stops...because eventually
you get lost and can't find which screen the info is on you
are looking for. 🙂
I think two is optimal for most people but three can be handy
on occasion. Beyond that you need a job like security or something.

Re: I have two monitors now

50! That would be somethin' to try to work with! I can already see how 3
or even 4 could be practical for what I do. Our graphic designers all have
two (recent development). Maybe it'll be the next thing for all staff here,
too.

I'm not looking forward to PHCEO's first glimpse of the new arrangement. He
will of course have to have the same or better setup, although ... (okay,
deep breath, don't get started...) there's no way he needs it.

('Nother deep breath, reminder that he helps us get a nice big budget....)

Heck how many users know how to use a wheel mouse
effectively? I'm still trying to explain right click
to some of my users. You'd think they were all Mac users
in a former life <g,d&r>

I notice not one item that is written. Is that a hint?
