Re: I just realized ...

So, they're keeping the summer white jumpers, eh? That makes sense.
Wearing Navy blues in the South Pacific or Mediterranean sounds really
uncomfortable. Some of the other "new and improved" uniforms look like
someone's been watching too much sci-fi.

The Army had some really dumb uniform ideas in the past 50 years, like
pastel-green shirts instead of khaki for Class-A and nobody has yet
designed a more practical field uniform for Grunts than the 1944-model
Paratrooper uniform, which they reverted to for Vietnam (minus the outer
belt for the shirt) and still haven't been able to improve on, other
than climate-specific camo patterns..

I was unlucky enough to serve in the Navy during its brief experiment
with having all enlisted personnel wear "CPO-style" uniforms. They
looked like carp compared to the '13-button' uniforms, and IIRC every
ship of the fleet had to be retrofitted with vertical lockers so they
could be hung up. Just as I was getting out, they brought back the
crackerjack uniforms. 😕

Re: I just realized ...

Seems like all the services have some really dumb uniform "improvements"
every 20 years. I thought the Marines were the exception, until I heard
that they were requiring "U.S. Marines" and sew-on nametag tapes for
battledress uniforms like the Army does. I always thought that was a
stupid idea, especially considering that one of the last procedures that
most Army units had for combat deployment was to remove all patches and
identifying insignia, especially rank.

Re: I just realized ...

the 4th time you've celebrated your 29th birthday this year?

Or is it the 40th time?... I forget.

I thought your first computing device was a set of rocks (I used a abacus since I'm slightly younger)

Re: I just realized ...

let's see...

4 times 29 equals 116 plus the original 28 years equals 144.

144 equals a gross

Therefore you're grossly mistaken about how old you really are, but we see that you've trying to pull the wool over our eyes and we've told Shaun so that he'll get angry and come over and take the sheep away from you that you were trying to spirit away so that your ducks would have something to quack over.

Is it clear now?

Re: I just realized ...

You weren't aroung when they tried a blue pullover work top. If it
started burning, you could not get it off fast enough and many sailors
suffered 3rd degree burns. Hull Techs and engineering types. It got
dumped

Yes - I think it did work out rather nicely.

When are you moving out of the house and into the RV permanently? <grin>
