I'm not an infrastructure person....but I say "Yes"

I recently received this notification email:

Support Staff at the WR Office report that all power has been lost to the building. The local power company has been notified. At this time we are unsure if network outages in the area are related to this power outage.

Oh...I dunno....isn't it just phone (land)lines? And everyone knows if
you lose power to your house your phone still works.

Yah, but that was in the old days when things actually worked.

Yes, but I'm pretty sure their routers and switches are not on UPSes.

Not if you have Charter for phone service.

Based on my few contacts with them, I wouldn't hire them to sweep leaves off my driveway much less do anything the slightest bit technical!!

When we went to the Mallards game a couple of weeks ago they had a laser light show after the game sponsored by several companies, including Charter. I had to chuckle because both times the announcer read the names of the sponsors, about 1/3 of the attendees booed when Charter was named.
