Egad, dealing with any salesperson for an entire week would take a toll.
(I almost typed "tool" there. Maybe it takes one of those, as well %^}

What's he selling?

Re: I wandered lonely as an orphaned blob file...

Very sadly, not much.

I got a heads-up when I was off last week that we'd need a phone line
moved before this Wednesday. So I immediately emailed the phone
company sales dude to arrange for a technician to come in and program
the thing.

He very helpfully called back to my office (where he knew I wasn't) and
left a message that it would be done by today (which is Friday, not
Wednesday). I told him Wednesday that today's not good, and I need
another one before next Thursday, and then got a call back from their
logistics-type person saying that both will be done next Friday (the
day AFTER the next urgent requirement).

I am able to work around these issues by laying down miles of phone
extension and duct tape, but that's not the most elegant look for the
executive offices, and I'm too old and ladylike to be crawling around
with a roll of duct tape.

What about when it converts bags or orphans or somthing and then they
die?

(I can't remember the exact DSTRACE output but something about children
dying).

There's a message when shutting down Guinevere that's something like
"killing all children". I try to avoid shutting it down.
