Interesting articles about privacy

I find some of this a bit hypocritical but interesting nonetheless.

It all started when I came across this article:

Microsoft teams with Google in name of privacy • The Register

(I wasn't aware there were any federal laws mandating that Google/MS keep certain things for that long--in other words Google and MS CHOOSE to keep the specified data and for that long)

This next article seems to support the above statement:

Microsoft finally cuts Bing data retention time to six months • The Register

Then I stumbled across this:

Google's IP anonymization fails to anonymize • The Register

coupled by this:

Buzzed Gmail outs Googly ties of Obama's deputy CTO • The Register

and my favorite:

Google chief: Only miscreants worry about net privacy • The Register

I will now ponder.

I avoid Google if possible. They know too much.

I would ponder more than one source for information.

If one read the articles fully, one would see they were mostly gathered from multiple external sources (much like what one sees on CNN, etc. or reads on the news comes from AP/Reuters).

But if you want multiple sources:

Debunking Google's log anonymization propaganda | Surveillance State - CNET News

Google CEO: Secrets Are for Filthy People - Google - Gawker

News Headlines

Google blackballs reporters, CNET - Aug. 5, 2005

I'm sure there's more, but I'll leave that for others to do a little work on their own.
