Licensing question

Currently running GW2014 with maintenance on our GW licensing, which
gives us access to GMS and Messenger as well.

It has been decided (opposed vehemently by me) to move our file / email
access to the 'cloud' and will be leaving GW. I am not happy about
this decision at all.

We are supposedly going to stagger the migration (starting some time in
2017), but I'm wondering what will happen with our Groupwise licenses?
The maintenance expires Dec 31. I'm wondering if we don't renew
maintenance for the next year, will we still be able to use Groupwise,
or GMS and Messenger for that matter, or not?

Re: Licensing question

Hi Stevo,

I am absolutely NO licensing expert but this is what I know:

No maintenance no GMS! Period!
No maintenance, I think, no Messenger.

If you bought your GroupWise licenses then you are entitled to use them on the version that you bought them.
If your GroupWise licenses are subscription based then when your subscription expires so does your right to use the software.

Best you check with your local Micro Focus representative.

Cheers,
Laura Buckley

So my response to laurabuckley's comment is...

I was told people here found our license agreement and this is the
case. Would lose GMS & Messenger access, plus eventually SLES, so have
to figure out a different way to do some reverse proxy stuff we have
going via our SLES apache server.

Your GroupWise license allows you to run GroupWise on SLES. Without maintenance you would no longer be entitled to patches and support for both GroupWise and SLES but I don't see why you would you lose SLES. Besides, SLES is open source.
