Hey kathcarruthers:

Of course not. Just because you debate an issue someone that doesn't make
you enemies. Sometimes my wife wins an argument and I still love her. 🙂

I have a horrible suspicion I am going to be forced to remove SLED from
my machine real soon now. I am one of the only two machines left running
it (from eight in the original trial group) and we no longer have novell
servers, our extend portal is now sharepoint, and apparently their
inability to enforce GPO on my machine is an "issue"

*sigh*

of course, the fact that I am typing this on a thunderbird I had to
compile myself (because the supplied libraries in the distro don't
support the binaries), browsing using minefield (ditto) and accessing
OCS via pidgin (another source of annoyance for the ms "enterprise
admins") probably isn't helping my case.

I'll be getting a new laptop in a few months when I refresh all our
laptops, and when I do it's bye-bye SLED. Tired of all the things that
don't work that simply should work. Some of it is Novell software, some
of it isn't. Regardless, I'll be switching to Windows 7 and I won't look
back. Probably will keep SLED in a VM just so that I can continue to
help out a bit in the SLED forums.

Re: Message from Novell

But your wife isn't planning on charging you for maint on Feb 1st?

(That's stated in humor and to express a point of view and shouldn't be
taken in any manner as a negitive view of your spouse!!) 🙂

Re: Message from Novell

I've not had much luck with SLES. I installed version 10 a while back
and just had all kinds of problems. I gave up and switched to CentOS.
It's worked like a champ for me. I also use ubuntu LTS which I've had
nothing, but good luck with. Maybe I secretly sabotaged my SLES servers
in my sleep. 😛

Re: Message from Novell

We too paid the much more expensive maintenance. After long dealing about our MLA-Conditions we paid maitenance for the next three years an so gained a price reduction.

Then I got the same mails twice, some weeks ago and on monday.
In both cases I immediately called my german novell sales represantative and asked her, which product is meant to loose suuport.

She told me everything is fine. The mail(s) inadvertently were send to all customers...I should ignore them...
