My office is hiring......

I know this is rare these days but I am swamped and the bossman is looking for some help for me.

We are looking for a person in the TwinCities area (Minneapolis/StPaul, MN) that is a VMware ESX guru and Linux knowledgeable. Novell and hardware is a bonus.

While the green is not quite as good as in commercial arena, the bennies are incredible.

This is for a field engineer (consulting) position with very little overnight travel and normally only within driving distance.

If you are interested email me at tleerhoff AT qwest DOT net for more info.

Sorry, no relocation funds are available.

Re: My office is hiring......

I've got vast experience ATV riding and will work remotely...keep that
in mind if you don't find anyone to fill the position right away.

Hey Patrick Farrell,

>That would be one hell of an ATV ride from where you are

Like I said, I can ride remotely. I can check in from time to time as
I get within cell range. It would be a tough job but someone has to do
it.

Re: My office is hiring......

Define "guru" for me.

Also, "knowledgeable" and "bonus".

🙂

Re: My office is hiring......

Guru - Know it well, could pass a cert test fairly quickly if needed (with studying of course). Can answer questions about the technology over the phone.
Knnowledgable - will not sit down at the client and open a book to figure out how to do something.
Bonus - having expertise/experience in these areas would give you extra points in consideration.

Basically we are looking for a person who knows VMWare ESX and setting up vCenter, virtual switches, best practices, and knows how to upgrade from 3.x to 4.x.
Knowing Linux enough to be able to know enough to compile drivers and add them to the system. You will be asked to pass a Novell Linux test (which depends on what is required by our reseller status and Novell).
You will also have to be willing to learn hardware, primarily HP SAN stuff and pass tests from HP.

This is a consulting position so being able to interface with clients and enjoy that is a must.

Hope this helps clarify,

Re: My office is hiring......

Oh, I'm sorry. I was just funning with you. I figured if I asked those
questions, right off the bat you'd think it was not a good potential hire.

Slightly knowledgeable (l)user that other (l)user call when they have a
problem. Rarely actually fixes the problem. Never really know how or why
the fix worked. Usually high school kid or older retired (not from
computer field) person (like my uncle).
