OES Anti-Virus Solutions

Hi,

I am curious to know what anti-virus solutions the community are running directly on their OES servers specifically scanning NSS volumes. What are you using? What are your experiences? What kind of support do you get from the vendor?

Many thanks in advance,
Laura Buckley

None. I make sure clients have AV.

Presumably you have complete control over all (possible) clients?

The problem with server-side anti-virus protection is that it can
interfere with the server operation as TID 7016088[1] suggests -
essentially it recommends that all the default Linux folders are
excluded from scanning which pretty much leaves just the /media/NSS/
volume mount(s).

Micro Focus have several partners listed for anti-virus products though
whether any are actually a) supported, or b) work ...

HTH.

Re: OES Anti-Virus Solutions

Hi Simon,

I did take a look at the listed partners and spent a lot of time digging in their respective websites but did not find "comforting" detail and information. Hence my curiousity as to what other folk are doing.

Only NSS volumes need to be scanned, excluding the few system files/folders in the root of each volume.

Do you have any suggestions?

Many thanks,
Laura Buckley

I have adopted the same approach, a/v on clients only, but I'm not convinced that is sufficient.

Do you periodically scan NSS volumes from a workstation?

You mean that I do not have control in that case? Yes, you are right.
In that case, I would probably use something like Sophos.

laurabuckley sounds like they 'said':

+1 for Sophos.

Central policy/settings control also works well using the Enterprise Console.
