Or at minimum a few thousand sheep will need to stand back up.

Re: Oh ow! Mag. 7.4 earthquake, Canterbury region, New Zealand

Yeah, it was pretty freaky, never been through anything like it, some
of the aftershocks were intense too.

Just rode in to work to power down some of the servers and one of the
highways is in a real mess, parts of it have dropped 100mm+, burst
water mains all over the place; not something I would have ever
expected here.

No water or power at home :-(, but is seems parts of the city are
coming back on line with power, looks like I'll be crashing at a
friends... 😕

Wahoo! Power back on, and water...I can't believe how quickly they did
it given the extent of the damage in multiple areas.

PRI at work was down, but the fibre connection to the internet didn't
miss a beat! 🙂

Very glad you're safe and sound. Well, as sound as you'll ever be,
what with that bodily torture thing you have going all the time. <G>

It's my home town .... My parents still live there. Dad is apparently
fine - no power, no water, no injuries. No word on my mom yet 😞

It's a good thing it happened when it did, (4:35 am) if it had occurred
during the middle of the day I think there would have been many deaths &
severe injuries.

Re: Oh ow! Mag. 7.4 earthquake, Canterbury region, New Zealand

Glad to hear you're still in one piece, Scott!! When I told the family about
the quake, Miss Jenny was most upset, and wanted me to immediately head your
way to insure you were fine.... Took quite some convincing to get her to
understand just how long that would have taken, even if the airport on your
end was open. She'll be most reassured that you're OK.

Yeah, it was closed this morning for safety reasons, but it is open now.
