Old User Accounts

What do you guys do

This company has never had a policy on what to do

I say

Disable account and remove from Catalog for 6 months

Delete mail box after 6 months

Delete account after 12 months

That sounds like a fun game.

Re: Old User Accounts

Disable the user account on day 1. Burn user directory to CD/DVD and put it
in safe with the HD out of their computer.

Wipe and recycle HD after 365.

We are a little quicker than that, but basically the same routine.

Re: Old User Accounts

Day 0 :- Export all mail and add to kvs archive, DELETE ACCOUNT, assign kvs
archive to responsible owner, add mail alias to responsible owner for future
mail.

Re: Old User Accounts

Depends on the user type.

Students - disabled and deleted the October after they graduate, 3 months
after a transfer out, immediately if expelled

Staff - disabled once HR tells us, 1 to 3 months to removal (depends on if
a department needs access to an email store).

Re: Old User Accounts

I'm not allowed to do anything with old users' accounts that I can't do with
young users' accounts. Nope, can't even chew their files for 'em, no matter
how clearly they need to have that done.

Well.. it is YOUR policy to define. Frankly, if you
have things backed up, I'd wack it all asap.

Re: Old User Accounts

We will let Symantec worry about that. It still works!
