Recovering deleted data (XP)

User deleted a folder from the desktop and emptied the trash; of course, she
needs that data back.

I ran Ontrack lite on it but don't see it anywhere (only some bits and
pieces of files with similar names but with unreadable junk in them).

Docs and xls.

Thanks!

Re: Recovering deleted data (XP)

I've had some luck with Active Uneraser. Be sure the user is NOT doing any
more work with the pc, or the files are even more likely to be
unrecoverable. But you knew that.

Re: Recovering deleted data (XP)

Other file recovery programs I've tried, with varying success:
PC Tools File Recover
Directory Snoop
PC Inspector File Recovery
Stellar Phoenix Deleted File Recovery.

the rule is, the more essential the file, the more likely it will be
unrecoverable.

And you don't have a policy saying that ALL files should be saved on the
server?

Re: Recovering deleted data (XP)

It was a laptop, and not business data. She had her father's tax return
info and some personal junk on it.

She's been kind enough to only ask for those 2 docs, but I can't find it.

Re: Recovering deleted data (XP)

She probably has a "no loser" policy.

Plus, she's married! 🙂

Did you get your blog up yet? I had to settle on regular soap operas in the
meantime, and with the writer's strike...............
