Suggestions on how to make file on fle server not multi user?
Our CAD dept has requested that I some how limit there CAD files so as soon
as one person opens a CAD file, any other person who tried to open that file
would get a file in use or open as read only prompt.
Not sure if this can be done as they envision it.
Do you have any suggestions? Are there any server platforms that may allow
this funtionality?
Thanks!

That depends entirely on the application, ie if the app can open the file in
exclusive mode. Other than that it sounds like what you want is a file veersion
management system.

Novell has a new enhancement request system,
or what is now known as the requirement portal.

Re: Suggestions on how to make file on fle server not multi
Isn't that some form of oplocking or something?
I vaguely remember in Linux that there's a way to force it to behave that way (where once someone opens it, nothing else can)?

No. Different things. In any OS there is generally a way to specift
when you open a file in say C whether you want exclusive access or
shared.
