Sounds like something's wrong somewhere because it's supposed to be $50.
Might want to try a Verizon store if you're having trouble with Verizon
customer service.

Re: Verizon Sucks

Another thought. Price is tied directly to customer experience. In my
particular case with Verizon. I was happy with Alltel. Didn't bother
me that Verizon bought them. Hadn't given it two thoughts till my
brothers phone started having problems. First he was going to send it
in and they told him it would be $90 to replace it. Which came as a
shock considering he's already spent $100 to have it replace twice
before for the exact same problem. So we decided to see if we could
upgrade yet. I can on my phone, but he has to wait the full two years.
We are almost to the 18 month point on our contract (April as I
recall). Under Alltel we could have upped our contract and both gotten
new phones. So I would say I'm not happy with the service I'm receiving
since the switch. And just because my alternitives aren't any better
doesn't mean Verizon sucks any less.

As for the actual phone service. It's no better or worse than when it
was Alltel. We've neither gain nor lost any features. Our bill is
still the contracted pricing.

What's probably gonna happen is my brother is going to buy a new phone
outright. I actually offered to exchange phones with my brother and
then up my contract for a new phone. The Verizon rep told me he can't
do that.

Oh well. At the end of the day it doesn't matter. My options are
cancel my contract and pay a $400 cancellation fee, wait it out, or sign
up with another carrier who data service sucks. Gotta love small town
living. 😛

When my Contract is Up, I'm likely giving Verizon the Walking Papers.

Look at http://www.straighttalk.com/

Bad - Phone Selection is Limited.
Good - They Use the Verizon Network and are Dirt Cheap.

We tried both. The store first, but we thought the sales guy was an
idiot so we called Verizon.

Could you activate your existing VZW phone on that service, or do they
make you buy one of their phones?

I don't know. We didn't ask. We call Verizon is all I can tell you.
My brother is the one who actually talked to them on the phone. I just
gave them account information.

Re: Verizon Sucks

I presume you need to buy one of those phones, but I don't know for sure.

Straight Talk is sold thru Walmart too, who I actually think is the
force behind it.

If you have a Walmart in a good part of town, they might have folks who
know.

There is so much wrong with that statement, my eyeballs nearly
exploded.

Often they make you call Assurion directly as Assurion actually handles
the insurance claims. I'd try calling them.

Re: Verizon Sucks

Well we have a WalMart in a good part of town, but I'm not sure about that last part.

Not to mention the, uh, clientele that seems to prevelant there.

(I was forced one day to go to our Super Wal-Mart but it must've been a slow day because hardly anyone was there and it was actually pleasant to shop at).
