Vista Optimize Site

A friend of mine bought Vista (SWMBO dictated it) and now wants to
optimize it the best he can. What do the Irregulars recommend? (besides
fdisk or Suse' 10.2)

That will only work in the cooler climates though, won't it?

of RAM (16 is more like it) in it.

And dual video cards with what, at least 512MB RAM each? DVI output
only as well.

Re: Vista Optimize Site

The ONLY way to optimize Vista is to put the Vista OS and apps on this:

and keep your data on the slow clunky mechanical mess of a drive that
you currently have.

More ram and a very fast cpu and a fast hdd.
Basically, the ars technica god box. From what I have seen of vista, it is
slow and crashes when trying to setup file sharing. SP1 will probably fix
lots of things.
I really dislike it.
Driver support is minimal also.
Maybe this will help?

And hopefully they learned their lesson with XP SP2... I rely on
wireless and them breaking it is not nice...

But I use Ubuntu and I won't have an issue now will i?

Re: Vista Optimize Site

Vista runs much, much slower than XP. I am on it now as an experiment, had
to add an extra 1.5 gig of ram, and the gadgets show 1 gig being used when
idle, and the proc swings so fast you can cut salami on it.

I wonder if we should start a list of "did you know(s)", and things that
have disappeared in Vista. 1) Outlook Express --gone

2) Hyperterminal ---gone

3) Run as Administrator

etc.....................
