Weekend plans?

I get to go home to a PMS-y wife and 8th grader. Good thing I have beer and wine in the fridge! (I'm glad the twins aren't that old - yet)
Tomorrow I get sit down and do taxes, then go to a friend's house tomorrow night and watch "Twilight".

How about you? Please tell me your plans are better....

I'm going to start more seeds here in the house for the eventual garden, and
hopefully get the new deck approved by the Architectural Control Committee
of our homeowners association.

Re: Weekend plans?

Taxes, along with planting round 2 of veggies seedlings, and yard
cleanup...which I actually enjoy quite a bit.

Re: Weekend plans?

Same as you, but substitute "hooker" for "wife", remove the 8th grader
altogether, and swap "cocaine" for "beer and wine".

Hmmmmmm.

Nope. Probably same as you. I think I'll start to do my taxes but then get
scared and arrange for my preparer lady to do them. I have an ungodly
number of weeds growing too, so I'll be doing that to be certain.

Well, this evening, after dinner on my own, so I'll finish off my and
mother's taxes, watch Terminator (and record it for the boy who's at a
party at school) and then go pick him up.

Tomorrow, I'll be discussing youngest daughter's new life plan, since
finding out earlier in the week that she dropped out of college at
Christmas time (she's been going out pretty much every day and doing
something that resembled class work in the evenings -- lots of reading
and writing -- but seems to be more related to various volunteer
activities with anime conventions).

Sunday, I'll be sitting in my room wondering why I had children.

Re: Weekend plans?

Well, you could tell her the same thing my mother did and then not find
yourself in my MIL's situation which involves her 40 year old daughter
living with her (and depending on her financially) since having her own
daughter 14 years ago.

Here's what my mom told all of us (did I mention I have a very wise
mother?):

"After high school graduation you have exactly 6 months to either 1) get
into college and stay until you graduate - on your own dime, or 2) get a
job, an apartment, and a car and get the h*ll out of my house."

None of us have ever moved back in with either of our parents, but my all
lived with our grandparents during various stages of our college careers
when money got really tight. And they made certain we were still in
college.

Good luck with it though. Looks like I might be "inheriting" a snarky 14
year old niece this summer, and possibly through her high school career.
And I may get a 16yo nephew, but that's because he wants to learn how to
garden.

On Sunday, I suggest adding a bottle of wine and a bubble bath the
wondering time. 🙂

Re: Weekend plans?

What makes me really crazy about it is that it's not the money, because
she has a good sized bank account from her dad's estate, and she paid
her own tuition and books out of that. I've told them basically the
same thing (school or work) but I've always also said I don't want them
to have to suffer too much so as long as they're in school, they don't
have to worry about food and shelter.

It's the laziness and lying to me, and being that kind of example for
the boy (who will probably take his trust fund the day after his
eighteenth and furnish a video/gaming room rather than go to college,
but he'll do it to my face, and probably invite me along for the
shopping).

She didn't used to be that dumb. And she'll either have a good plan by
the end of the weekend, or be looking for alternate accommodations.

Re: Weekend plans?

I like that "alternate accomodations". 🙂

Good luck either way. Being a parent isn't easy...glad my mom let me live
through puberty. 🙂

My sister dropped out of college to afford her 4x4 pickup that she just
"had" to have, causing me inordinate pain and suffering during my college
(she's oldest). She ultimately regretted it the second she had her first
child and finally went back and finished her BS at 41.

I'm not saying she didn't come by it naturally. I just own up to my
dumbness right away.

Re: Weekend plans?

Mine was to buy a couple of 1tb consumer grade drives to go in to my
server to replace the two 320gbs (one of which has failed).
Then take a nosey at TVs; one of my DVD players died the other week so
I decided I would replace it with a BluRay player, if I was getting a
BluRay then I needed to replace my 50" Sony LCD Rear Projection tv with
a HD tv (and one that has a FreeView Tuner).

Actual results were:
40min Kayak where towards the end I was getting a little concerned that
the southerly was going to make it challenging to get to shore rather
than swept out to sea.
The purchase of a new TV
(http://www.panasonicviera.co.nz/plasma/th-50pz850.html - "Such rich,
evocative colour over such a wide screen is going to be hard to tear
yourself away from. Luckily, your TH-50PPZ850 has a panel life of
around 100,000 hours – so you could still be watching whatever you
want, all night, in 30 years’ time." ), a Sony BluRay player and a
couple of new 1tb drives.

Tomorrow will be a 4 hour push of a heavy mountain bike up a mountain
on a track called the Blowhard to enjoy the first 30 minutes of a
downhill and then just hang on for the remaining 10 to 15 minutes -
weather permitting...
I like the smell of burning disc-brakes in the morning... 🙂
