Went shooting this weekend…

I got to put the last of 200 rounds that Kahr recommends be run before
a weapon should be trusted.

I also got to shoot Greg’s Glock 21. Can’t say I really like it, since
it’s a .45 and I can’t control it. So it ejects shell casings into my
face...not cool, since they are really HOT.

I did REALLY enjoy shooting the Sig P229 .40...that was awesome. Even
Greg agreed that even though it is a .40 it's a lot nicer to shoot then
my CW9. The CW9 seems louder and kicks harder for some reason.

We also took the HK, not sure what the model was but it was also a 9mm.
didn’t like it as much as the Sig, the Glock nice, but with the kicking
thing it’s out of the question. Greg thinks the Sig is too big for me
to carry. To heck with that, I have a big bag, I don’t think it would
be a problem at all…HA!

Re: Went shooting this weekend…

Personally, I think the private ownership of any type of gun should be
outlawed. Instead people who want guns should only be allowed to own
water pistols. <whisper>I'm just kidding.</whisper>

It's been awhile since I've been able to shoot. Last gun I think I shot
was a .40 caliber revolver. I live revolvers.

Re: Went shooting this weekend…

Shooting is great fun.

My little brother turned 21 last week, I took him to the range, got him
his own spot and handed him all the neat toys. He loved the .44mag and
the .50 and shot very well with them. The normal sized autos gave him
trouble, but he will do fine with more practice.

Shooting .45 shouldn't be much of an issue, I'd say the problem is the
gun and not the caliber. Glocks, despite their rep, do have some flaws.
As you found with the P229, a high quality firearm performs like a high
quality firearm.

Re: Went shooting this weekend…

Chances are if it was a revolver, it was .38.
..40 is an auto loader round and while it is possible, its very uncommon
to see that type of round in a revolver. I know S&W used to make a 25
series that was chambered for .45ACP...

I have the same problem with the Kimber .45. I tend to duck and it throws
off my shot.

If you like the Sig, you should try the H&K .40, I REALLY like that one. So
much so that I almost risked the wrath of SWMBO and bought one, but I
chickened out 😞

It might have been a .45 caliber. It's been awhile and it wasn't my
gun. I think the .40 was the auto.

Re: Went shooting this weekend…

Guns scare me. Unless I'm the one holding it...

Re: Went shooting this weekend…

I've got a Sig .229 and I love it.

There are 2 kinds of gun owners...

Those who own Sig Sauer's, and those who wish they could. <ducking &
running>

Shoot a few clips off with a 50 cal desert eagle.. your hands will hurt.

Re: Went shooting this weekend…

Nah, the DE isn't that bad. That is the .50 I was referring to. I've put
30 rounds at a time through mine and the only thing it hurts is the
pocketbook.

Re: Went shooting this weekend...

Yep, but that isn't that common either, as its .45 Long Colt (LC). Its a
typical 'cowboy' round shot from single action six-shooter types.
Matthew didn't specify, so totally possible.

Re: Went shooting this weekend…

I've got a Glock 21 and I love it. I have very large hands and it's one
of the few pistols that fit me. The double stacked clip really helps.
Smaller ones chew up my my hand, particularly between my thumb and
pointer finger.

The only downside is the cost of ammo. I don't have reloading
capability (though I get a box from time to time from family members)
but these don't get to the range much so it's ok.
