Re: What?!?!?!? He's Gay?
My thoughts were just that everyone I knew (and the late night comics
agreed) that this was not news. Since he came out on his own I'd say he's
comfortable with discussion (which would be different than say, a politician
who lied about his sexuality and then got found out. That's hypocrisy AND
political, while this is neither, IMO).
I suspect that there are gay male musicians who are adored by female fans
who hide their sexuality because the money and fame would be lost if they
were open about it. They have been labeled as a sex object and benefit from
the label, right?
As far as Heche goes, I'd say she is most likely not actually gay...maybe
bisexual?

Re: What?!?!?!? He's Gay?
I didn't "want" to believe that either when I was a kid. Of course, "gay"
was much more of a pejorative then, even used as a one size-fits-all
pejorative that had little to do with orientation.

Re: What?!?!?!? He's Gay?
Most female fans don't care if they're out...that just increases the
challenge. 🙂 Personally, I don't care. As long as they produce fun
music that I like and are honest, I'll buy their stuff.

How sad is it that people have to "come out" when they are gay. Here's
a political statement.
This world is so screwed up.

Cool! Take pics of the retaining wall. I need to redo a small one in my
backyard, and fix the deck. It's almost Spring!

Re: What?!?!?!? He's Gay?
I say there's too much emphasis put on what a singer looks like as opposed to how their music sounds.
I could care less what someone looks like, etc. as long as their music sounds good and appeals to me (although I do care about what the song is about/lyrics, but that's me).
I listen to some foreign music and don't understand a word, but enjoy the "music". (of course they could be singing: Kill little bunny rabbits and kittens).

Re: What?!?!?!? He's Gay?
Ha. No, I don't think that's true at all.
I can think of a half dozen issues being discussed as we speak where there
are different laws or policies that apply to gay v. straight people.
They're not media creations.
Sodomy laws have existed in many states until recently, and have almost
never been applied straight couples.
Then again, interracial marriages were forbidden in the southern slave
States until 1967, I believe.

Re: What?!?!?!? He's Gay?
Female teeny-boppers would care, right? Unfortunately, music is about a lot
more than if someone can sing. It's about image.
I suspect Rob Halford of Judas Priest might have been impacted negatively if
he had publicized his homosexuality early in his career.
