Nah, something about the puppy dog eyes says that ain't gonna happen
any time soon. <g> My wife expressed a concern that his visiting Mom
might suggest they get hitched quickly.

Re: Xmas

The women that left me always seemed to go for guys who objectively were
lower on the food chain than myself. Like a guy working for a moving van
company every other weekend and living with his parents in an apartment.

Wha?

And the ex-wife hitched up with a beater.

So much for the guy who respects women, works hard and plays by the rules
(mostly)!! 🙂

So, maybe I'm bitter but I was quite convinced that a lot of women
ultimately don't like the respectable cats.

HOWEVER!!! I was just joking, so I should say that that sounds great!
Maybe she and he will get hitched soon.

We'll keep our eyes on the son's new girlfriend though! 🙂

Re: Xmas

I haven't tracked my previous ladies -- then again, I've been married
now for closing on 27 years. On the other hand, I know I 'drafted for
type' pretty consistently.

Last I hear, my high school girlfriend was teaching mathmathics at SDSU,
my college girlfriend is an anesthesiologist, my post college girlfriend
teaches sociology at ASU, my wife is a psychiatrist who also teaches in
the religious studies department at ASU. All are Jewish (as am I).
Pretty clear I 'run to type' -- seeking out women who are smarter than
me.

It's interesting, my brother runs to form as well. His first wife is an
MD, his current wife (of 35 years or so) got her PhD in liguisitics.

We do education. <smile>.

Re: Xmas

The smart ones were easier to have conversations with, for me. I ran
into some college classmates and found it refreshing that I didn't have
to explain some things. Flip side was that B.S.'ing them was asking for
a psychic butt-whupping, as a passerby found out the hard way.

Re: Xmas

But the big questions are: did they call it off or you? AND, are you the
nice, respectable type? 🙂

Happy Hanukkah! 🙂 (Or did it just end?)

Sort of mutual in most cases -- I went off to college, or she went off
to med school. Been dumped in one case (the woman who teaches sociology
-- I bought her half interest in the house as part of the 'divorce' --
we'd been living together for about 3 years.

It ended last night. But thanks anyway.

As to me being honorable -- with females as smart as I select for,
pretty much no option there <smile>.

Craig:

Horsefeathers. Good women want good men. Sick women want sick men.
Unfortunately, there are more sick than good men, and more sick than
good women. The best lesson in life to learn, as early as possible, is
to leave the sick to the sick. : )

Re: Xmas

I dated a girl for 2 years in college who cheated on me with a drinking buddy
of mine. He was a real "dirty" guy, and drank about a bottle of Jack Daniels a
day (no exageration). She then dated him for a few weeks until she *realized*
he was a drunk, and that he gave her *and* her best friend both a few VD's.

Last I heard from her, she was a lesbian, and dating a woman 22 years her
elder.

<g> true story.

Re: Xmas

Sounds like the plot to an award winning cable-TV channel miniseries.
Need a ghost writer for the screenplay? Lindsey knows some professional
creative writers. 😉

Re: Xmas

All true. I think we're agreeing more than disagreeing here though. And
insofar as we are informed by society, TV, etc, many women want a "bad boy"
like Adam's friends.

Men may choose a "bad girl" for a time, or even cheat with one but most
prefer a woman better than they are?

Make sense?

(non-political...but Spitzer comes to mind. Also, the prevalence of women
strippers, prostitutes vs.. male of the same. )

The male variety looks for short term distractions but to come home to the
Cleaver house; the female variety seems to think "I've strayed for a
reason." then the clichés follow. "I love you but I'm not IN love with
you", "We grew apart", etc. The affair turns into a "relationship", even if
it were born out of a whiskey bottle.

It seems to me that more men cheat, but more women leave when they cheat.

and you know me, I'm not sexist. But I am de facto sociologist. 🙂

Corollary, courtesy of a standup comedian I once saw: "Women want *one*
man to satisfy their *every* want and need. Men want *every* woman to
satisfy their *one* want and need."
