Anybody using iSCSI? How are you securing your data during transfer?

Re: iSCSI

You need to work on your aim, your other post landed on a birthday thread. 🙂

Are you sending iSCSI traffic over a network that has a chance to be physically
compromised? Are you sending it over your normal LAN/WAN? (hope not)

I would secure it except physically isolate it from my data network. I don't
secure my FC san, and I would setup iSCSI the same way.

Yep.

Sure, I suspect everyone has at least a toy system using it now.

We aren't - its isolated by VLAN from normal lan traffic, but that's it.

At least six or seven companies would like to sell us their solution
to the problem - but invariably, they seem to want us to fit the target
AND initiator with their custom (encrypting) pci gige boards, and oddly
enough, our san units don't take pci....

That's how I've always done it. Works great.

Re: iSCSI

Why do my "n't"'s always seem to be left off lately?

Try this again:

I wouldn't secure it, except by physically isolating it from my data network. I
don't "secure" my FC san, and I would setup iSCSI the same way.

That's how I do it as well.
