HP ALM-PC installation question

Jump to solution

Hi All-

we are in process sizing the hardware for installing the ALM PC 11.0, may be i am confused with the instructions given in the manual.  Total how many servers are in for ALM PC . Forget abt the Hosts(Crtrls, inje) .Since we have a seperate set of  those.

i am only looking for with  main servers ALM PC installtion

1)  Server A -ALM (Installation + ALM PC extension deploy) .

2) Server  B- PC load Server.

Where does the ALM DB and repositiry goes, will that be on the same ALM server , where the PC extension deployed? if so do i have to install a DB on the same ALM server or on a different machine

Also can the DB and repository can be on a different machine, other than the ALM server.

Please clarify ,. Thanks in advance.........

Hello,

The ALM server installation can be divided in 2, you can have the ALM Server itself in one machine and the Repository in another one. By default, the repository is installed in the same machine as the Application Server (along with the proper extensions). The Database server and the PC server are recommended to be installed separately, but can be installed wherever you see fit (considering resource usage, space, etc).

Hope this responds to your questions.

ALM DB & Repository can be on a different machine or on the same machine as ALM. Also in PC11 each project will have a different schema in Database and this can reside on different database as well. E.g. One on SQL Server and other on Oracle.
