Thanks found this:
"Oracle12.1.0.1andOracle12.1.0.2(Standard/EnterpriseEdition)(RACandNon-RAC)forallPPM server platforms
There is a known issue in the Oracle 12 side. To address this issue, you should permanently alter the session parameter "optimizer_adaptive_features".
To do so:
a. Log on to PPM Center database schema as PPM schema.
b. Run the commands as follows:
create trigger PPM_LOGON_ORACLE_18311854
after logon on <PPM_SCHEMA_NAME>.schema
begin
execute immediate 'alter session set "optimizer_adaptive_features" = false'; end;"

Hi,

Oracle 12.1.0.1 and Oracle 12.1.0.2 (Standard/Enterprise Edition) (RAC and Non-RAC) certification has been addressed in PPM 9.31 and elaborated in 931 release notes.

Best regards,
Randall

Hello Auro,

This is associated with an Oracle defect.

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/BugMatrix?id=18430870

If you are using one of the versions specified by Oracle the current workaround is

Note: There is a known issue in the Oracle 12 side. To address this issue, you should permanently alter the session parameter "optimizer_adaptive_features".

  • To do so:
    1. Log on to PPM Center database schema as PPM_SCHEMA.
    2. Run the commands as follows:
    3. create trigger PPM_LOGON_ORACLE_18311854
    4. after logon on <PPM_SCHEMA_NAME>.schema
    5. begin
    6. execute immediate 'alter session set "optimizer_adaptive_features" = false';
    7. end;

The other potential option is to apply the Oracle Patch.   This is also a documentation defect, as the information is missing from PPM's latest documents.  Thanks for pointing this fact out.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply. I do not have sufficient access to the Oracle BugMatrix. If you can send me the doc, it would be helpful for me. Also, wanted to know the exact version of Oracel 12c, in which this needs to be implemented.

Recently we had DB upgrade for our lower environments, and till now we have not identified any issue. May be it's already set for us. Need to check on this.

Also, would you please menton the sympotms of the issue, if this parameter is not set.

Hi hyllplan,

Thanks for your reply. Shall I consider from your reply that " until you set the parameter to false" you were having some issues in 9.32.0002 as well.

If yes, would you please mention the issues you have faced. Hopefully all got resolved with just setting this one parameter.

Hi Chris,

Please find the below DB Version details and Parameter value as well. Not sure, if we should observe any abnormal behaviour from PPM side with this setup.

Re: Anyone on Oracle 12?

Yes exactly

The beahavior was that some querys were very FAST and some were very SLOW, very unpredictable. After applying trigger things stabilized.

We also have this set, like you

optimizer_adaptive_features TRUE

The trigger will set it to false on logon for each session

Could be that you have the Oracle patch applied (then the trigger is not needed), ask your dba.
