Avoid RMO in Staffing Profile

Hi,

we are working on PPM9.32.0002.

The new RMO funcrionality is very interesting but in some use cases it produces overhead to final users when used to allocate resources on positions.

In particular if the user specifies "Category"  and "Role" adding a position, these attributes are automatically passed to RMO filters ("Category" and "Role") in order to produce a filtered result. But if resources are not configured with "Role" or "Category" then result is always empty.

In order to have some results (for example all users coming from the selected "Resource Pool") the user has to blank passed attributes.

There is any configuration in PPM that avoids to pass "Resource Type" and "Role" to RMO filter but only "Resource Pool"?

Thanks

Nicola

Re: Avoid RMO in Staffing Profile

Hi Nicola,

Above window you are referring is called Resource Recommendation  and not Resource Management Optimization (RMO).

The Resource recommendation functionlity recommends the best suitable resources from the resource pool based on 4 parameters which are Availability, Skill and Projected Utilization, which are filter based on role and category which is backfilled based on what you have provided while adding a resource.

Now, if you would like to list the resources in given pool just click the erase button which will clear all the backfill value and recommend best resource in the pool if you choose sort by "suitability"

Now, if you are small IT organization or you are aware of specific resources, than I would recommend using "specific resources" and sending resource request. PPM will recommend the specific resource while doing resource allocation.

Re: Avoid RMO in Staffing Profile

Hi CyCLoPs,

sorry for oversight, I'm referring to Resource Recommendation.

I know that erase button can be used, however for the user a double click is always required in order to have a valid result. Unfortunatelly "Resource Type" and "Category" are required by customer's process and cannot be left blank.

Thanks.

Could you kindly elobrate on how a user is required to double click in order to have a valid result?

Re: Avoid RMO in Staffing Profile

The user (e.g. Resource Manager) is in the Staffing Profile and wants to assign one or more resources to a position. He/she has to:

1) Clicks on Assign icon for the position

2) When Resource Recommendation page opens, clicks on erase button

Then resources are shown.

Thanks

Nicola

I would recommend contacting support and logging an Enhancement Request for R&D and product management to evaluate.
