CPI and SPI calculation without a proper work plan Baseline

Hi there,

I am wondering how the work plan CPI and SPI values are calculated when no proper work plan baseline is created.

In other words, my work plan is ACTIVE, I have planned and actual costs set up, yet I have not created any baseline.

In this situation, can the CPI and SPI ever show any value? If Yes, does it simply use the active work plan as baseline "0"?

Cheers,

Fred

All the earned value metrics are all about comparing to a plan. Without a baseline, it has nothing to compare performance to.
