Can we restrict the Submission of request upon certain conditions.

Hi All,

We have a requirement where we have one request type with one of the field "Month".

We have to restrict the user to not to submit request if he tries to submit request with one of the month that is already present in another request (which is of same request type).

This means there should not be 2 requests with same data in "Month" field.

I tried using rules "Apply before save" and "Apply before transition". But both are not working as expected. Request got created 2 times.
I dont want to create request if the condition does not meet.

Could you please check this issue and provide solution.Or any alternate solution for this problem exists in PPM?

Could you please let us know soon as this is our priority item at this moment.

Best Regards,

Shravan

Shravan - You will not be able to restrict the creation.

As a workaround I would do two things:

1. Warn the user with a system message, that can be populated upfront using on field change rule.

2. Even it the user ignores the message and hits the submit button, then you can redirect all such requests to a different workflow step (say "Pending Data Verififcation"); and proceed further in the workflow only if the month is chosen correctly.

Hello Sharavan

You can modify your validation which you are using to generate value for field "Month". If user is trying to create a duplicate request (same name and same month), don't show month value by modifying your validation query.

Hope it helps.
