Error possible migrating documents to DMS on 9.13 when localization is not English. Please be aware!

Hi all,

In PPM 9.13, we offer the new Database Management System to store attachments, either to migrate from the PPM file system or from EMC Documentum.

After the setup, if the migration is run in a localization other than one that has a dot as decimal separator, an error may occur during the migration of the documents.

How to reproduce:

1. set up DMS configuration according to Release Notes 9.13.

2. log in to admin console with a user on a box that is using a region on Operating System which uses comma as decimal separator (Italian, swiss)

3. trigger off DMS migration

4. Result is an error:

Caused by: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: For input string: "0,00" or "100,00" (can also be anywhere in between)

The migration statistic will be displayed on the admin console. For example, if the percentage of the successfully migrated documents is 1/3, we will display 33.33% on the web page. While we format a number to a text to be displayed in the page, we always use the dot (.) as decimal separator. So if the region setting is Italian which uses comma (,) as decimal separator, a number format exception will be thrown.

This is documented in

http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/FID/DOCUMENTUM_QCCR1L45466

A fix is planned to be delivered with the release of PPM 9.14. Until then, please make sure that the migration of documents to DMS is done with a localization setting that has a dot as a decimal separator – if wanting to be sure, use the account with English localization. If this is not possible, please log a support case and request the available hotfix.

Best regards,

Dirk
