Few questions

Hello wxperts,

I have few question. Hope you can help me out.

1) Some project tasks show exception that % complete is not provided by some resources. I see that similar sort of task (same duration and resources) in the same project is also having 0% complete but does not show any exception. Why?

2) If the sceduled duration of a task is 10 hrs and we assigned one resource it. Can we stop resource from entering more than 10 hours for the task? or any warnings?

3) Do we have any HP provided protlet which shows to a resource manager as how resources are entering their time in the projects CAP Vs Expense. I think it calls for custom query but in case we have any?

4) We are moving to IE#11. I tested it seems to work fine. But do you see any issues using PPM V 9.12 and 9.20 on IE 11??

5) what does that mean if the project health is None. (nothing of Red,Green,Yellow)

Thanks

-Mohit

There is some notes taken for the TM guide

(Used only for tasks) Your personal total percentage contribution toward completing a task or request, for the cumulative time you have reported on time sheets. Contributions of others are excluded. If this field is required for any tasks on the time sheet, red asterisks are displayed next to this field for those tasks and next to the Other Actuals tab name

Updates to your actuals data other than actual effort, such as % Complete, can be entered in either HP Time Management or HP Project Management, and are then automatically reflected in the other. In the time sheet, this data is entered on the Other Actuals tab

Page 152

In the Actual Effort in the Work Plan subsection in project settings , select the Track Actual
Effort per resource assignment check box (it is selected by default). If you select the subordinate Require resources to enter % Complete along with actual effort check box, resources must specify a non-zero value for % Complete when they specify actual effort on time sheets or elsewhere. (This check box is selected by default.)If you select the subordinate Track Estimated Remaining Effort per resource assignment check box, resources must report time at the Task level specified in step b on page 153. (By default, this check box is not selected.)

2)   Under the After a task is complete, allow time to be logged: heading, specify one of the following options for whether and how long time can be logged against a task after its Actual Finish Date (its completion
date):
A number of Day(s) more
A number of Time period(s) more. To allow logging until the end of
the time period in which the task is completed, enter 0.
Any time after the task is completed.
Do not allow.

3) Seems to be a custom portlet that you can creat with a DBA help.

4) IE 11 is not supported in PPM 9.10 nor 9.20. You should upgrade to PPM 9.30 to use it.

5) The project’s schedule health indicator is a simple color-coded indicator of the health of a work plan. A project only has a schedule health indicator when the work plan is Active; it disappears when the work plan is completed or put On Hold.

You can find more information about timesheets in the TM user guied attached.

Best Regards,

Carolina.

Re: Few questions

As long as you enable the Compatibility setting in Internet Explorer for your PPM URL, we have been able to run PPM 9.14 with the newer levels of IE successfully.

Without the Compatibility setting in IE enabled, our users have encountered a number of strange errors.

Re: Few questions

Hi Sandra,

It could be a possible workaround to use IE 11 in PPM 9.14, just keep in mind if you present any issues, you should test it with a compatibility settings as IE 11 is not supported in this PPM version.

Re: Few questions

Hi Carolina,

If project settings say that "Require % complete" then why not resources are prompted to enter the % complete for the task when they fill up time sheet?

I see that over 20 resources charged time and none of them entered % for this...that's why the task shows exception that "Some of the resources have not entered % Complete"

what's the reason? How do I manually correct it?

thanks

Re: Few questions

Carolina,

That's what I am saying. If it is required that resources must input the %complete then why they are not forced to enter while filling time sheet.

Please see work plan image where task 3 is Red and Task 4 is not.

You see task#3 the total % complete is 0...why? (If %required is must for resources)

And task#4 is also not having any % complete even then it is not Red..why? (it follows the same policy)

Hope you understand my question now..

Regards

Mohit

Re: Few questions

Hi Mohit,

Are you in PPM 9.12? Seems to be a known issue in this version, Please take a look on the following defect. It was fixed in PPM 9.14.0004. You should upgrade your PPM version to 9.2x or 9.3x due PPM 9.1x end of support for this release is in October 31th, 2015.
