Hierarchical Selection Validation - How To

Jump to solution

I am looking to build a validation with the Hierarchical Selection enabled.

I couldnt find any good documentation on this and nothing that showed building it for configured fields (customer specific data vs Resource Pool examples).

Anybody have any examples of the SQL for the Configuration tab and Hierarchical Display tab. Or any other documentation that would help to understand the setup.

Much appreciated.

Re: Hierarchical Selection Validation - How To

We have this example from a previous case,

Autocomplete

Enable Hierarchical Selection? Yes

Configuration Tab

4 Columns: Resource Pool ID, parent id, folder flag, Resource Pool

SQL:

select rpl.resource_pool_id id, rpl.parent_resource_pool_id parentId,
decode(sign((select count(rpl2.resource_pool_id)
from RSC_RESOURCE_POOLS rpl2
where rpl2.enabled_flag='Y'
and rpl2.parent_resource_pool_id=rpl.resource_pool_id)),1,'Y','N') isFolder
,rpl.resource_pool_name name
from RSC_RESOURCE_POOLS rpl
where rpl.enabled_flag='Y'

Hierarchical Display SQL:

select rpl.resource_pool_id id, rpl.parent_resource_pool_id parentId,
decode(sign((select count(rpl2.resource_pool_id)
from RSC_RESOURCE_POOLS rpl2
where rpl2.enabled_flag='Y'
and rpl2.parent_resource_pool_id=rpl.resource_pool_id)),1,'Y','N') isFolder
,rpl.resource_pool_name name
from RSC_RESOURCE_POOLS rpl
where rpl.enabled_flag='Y'
and NVL(rpl.parent_resource_pool_id, 0) = :parentId

Maybe can guide you.

Best regards,
Randall

Please check the pag 231 of the following guide,

http://swspvm71.gbr.hp.com/ppm-docs/v9.1/ppm%209.12%20release_notes_for_ppm_center_9.12.pdf

I think there is some information that can help you out.

That's a great start, I wonder why this wouldn't be documented in the 9.2 guides.
I think it would be helpful for an example from customer specific not OOTB data. I'm sure a lot of people have used this already.

Re: Hierarchical Selection Validation - How To

That is a great start, I think it is the same example that is in the release notes.

I was looking for a more practical example that I think would apply to most customers, like using data from the knta_lookups table, i.e. data we enter into a list validation.

Hi Kev,

We haven't had much cases about this feature yet. We do not have like references for it besides of what I already gave you.

Randall
