How do you escape a PPM token name in unix IF statement

 How do I escape the 2nd token so it stays  [PKGL.P.DATA1]?     I'm trying to see if the token contains a value in an object type.  If the token resolves to [PKGL.P.DATA1]  I know its not used by the object type.

if [[  [PKGL.P.DATA1] != [PKGL.P.DATA1] ]]; then ......

Put it in vars maybe?

if [[ "[PKGL.P.DATA1]" != "${var}${var2}" ]]; then ......

Ppm starts with resolving tokens
