How to give access to a user to modify the portlet on the dashboard page?

Hi All,

How to give access to a user to modify the portlet on the dashboard page?

I created a new module with a page and some portlets on it. In the module settings, I selected the specific users under "Users specified below will have access to modify this Module" but still they are not able to modify the portlets. The error is: "Shared portlet is not editable".

My requirement is: some users should be able to modify the portlets on the page and then it should get reflected to all the users who have the page added to their dashboards.

Thanks

Re: How to give access to a user to modify the portlet on the dashboard page?

Hi,

User need to copy the dashboard to they private pages in order to edit it, the whole dashboard that contains this portlet but the changes they made on this dashboard will not reflected to all users using this dashboard.

If you want anything some user changes made will reflected to all user used dashboard please grant access for user can be able to configure Modules.

1. Login with user you want modify the portlet

2. Go to configure Modules by  Open -> Administration -> Modules -> Configure Modules.

3. Search the module what you want to edits and right here you can able to edit the portlets.

Hope this helps.

Re: How to give access to a user to modify the portlet on the dashboard page?

Hi,

Thanks for your response. But user is not abel to see Open -> Administration option as shown in the attached snapshot.

Please let us know if we need to provide any security grup to user profile in order to make him capable of having the option to configure module.

Do we need to give config license in order to give "Configure Module" access?

Thanks

Hi,

In oder for user can see this. In workbench, double click on user, at System Level Licenses choose Configuration. Also you need gave user two access grant for modify modules.

1. Create a new security group

2. Add access grant below.

Categoty                    Access Grant Name

SysAdmin                  Configure Modules

System                       Ownership Override

3. Add user to this group.

Hope this help.

When you see how much a Configuration license costs, you will decide this is not a viable approach.
