How to set up a PPM instance on a machine

Jump to solution

Hi,

We have a PPM instance perfectly running on a HP UX server with Demand and portfolio modules. We would like to set up another PPM instance on the same server for tracking the non-IT proposals using Portfolio Management.

My questiosn are as below:

1) How can we set up another PPM instance, for portfolio module only if possible, on the same server on which one PPM is already running? What all changes we will need to do?

2) Do we need a new license file? but as far as I know we already have a license file for the IP of that machine so do we need to use the same license file or create a virtual IP or somehitng?

Thanks

Sure!

You need to open a Ticket with Licensing Team through the SSO.

I am attaching here the installation admin guide for 9.20, you can see on Chapter 8: Migrating Instances on page 269, there is a title "Copying an Instance to Create a New Instance"....

Best Regards,
Carolina.

Good Day,

Yes, It is possible to set up a new PPM instance in the same machine (but not recommended ) and also you need a new license file (Just for portfolio module).

For more information regarding this you can contact you sales representative.

Hope it helps!

Carolina.

Hi Carolina,

Thanks for your inputs. Could you please let us know how can we get a license file for the same IP on which another PPM instance is already running.

Also is thre any guide/steps available to know how can we set it up?

Thanks

Thanks Carolina.

If we set up a new instance on the same server just for the portfolio module then do we need to pay for the new licese file?

We have 100 portfolio licenses on the current server so can we adjust from there?

What if we use the same license file on the new isntance?

Thanks

Hi,

As far as i know, if you setup a new instance on the same server, which have one instance is already running, you don't need to get new lincense file, because PPM license is bind to IP address on computer that host the PPM server.

In case you migrate PPM server to a different machine, you must obtain a new lincense key.

Regards.
