Include more columns in Excel exported from Search Resources

Hi,

When you seach resources and export the list to Excel, how do you include new columns in the excel or remove the existing columns in the excep report?

Hi,

You can do it this way:

1) You need to get the list of information that's actually available when exporting the resources to excel. There are much more than what is exported by default. Do do so, switch to debug console mode (ALT+ Click on top PPM menu if this is enabled in your admin console), then export a resources search to excel. You will get the export to excel in debug mode, with all avaialble data & type listed in the generated debug excel file. Since only pictures are available to attach in this forum I cannot attach it here.

2) You then need to copy the "searchResourcesTemplate.xlsx" file from ppm_home/conf/excel_tempaltes/rm to ppm_home/conf/custom_excel_templates/rm (create subfolder rm if it doesn't exist).

Then edit the copied file (NEVER edit a template directly in excel_templates, it may work but will be overwritten on next PPM upgrade. ALWAYS do you customizations of excel templates in custom_excel_templates folder).

You can change style and add columns as long as the data is provided to the template. For info, here are the columns available (taken from my own debug export):

${resourceView.columns.resourcePool}
${resourceView.columns.role}
${resourceView.columns.skill}
${resourceView.columns.skillScore}
${resourceView.columns.suitabilityScore}
${resourceView.columns.timeApprover}
${resourceView.columns.title}
${resourceView.columns.userName}

Not all columns may be properly filled at runtime though. You may want to check what's really available for each resource by exporting your own resources search results to excel in debug mode first, and looking in the last spreadsheet, that contains a full dump of all the data, not just an overview of the data structure like in the first tab.
