Increase # of App Server processors

I was wondering the impact of adding additional processors onto our app servers.

We currently have 2 processors allocated to each app server. Each app server has 2 PPM nodes.

I would imagine we would expect to see an increase in performance.

  • Are there any issues that we might encounter?
  • How are processors allocated on a server with multiple nodes? How are the java processes affected?

In the latest Sizing Worksheet for PPM, it recommends 5 CPUs per server. Our infrastructure team increases the quantity in multiples of 2, so I would imagine we would go to 4 if there would be no negative impact.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Increase # of App Server processors

I wouldn't think there will be an issue if you increase the number of processors for the PPM app servers. Instead of issues, you will see a performance increase.

Actually we do not have any setting from the PPM side to allocate the processors when there are multiple nodes.

Best regards,
