Is there a way to create Org Units , Resource Pools and Security Groups via scripts.
Is there a way to create Org Units , Resource Pools and Security Groups via Insert/ Update scripts. Has anyone implemented this?
Re: Is there a way to create Org Units , Resource Pools and Security Groups via scripts.
Uploading data via scripts is nice as long as data is inserted in all relevant tables. I would recommend to use interface tables for data mgmt whereever possible.
For e.g. for Org units, you can upload the data to KRSC_ORG_UNITS_INT table Instead of scripts. Once uploaded you can run "Run PPM Organization Unit Interface" report to create the Org Units. Additionally you can use "KRSC_ORG_UNIT_MEMBERS_INT" table for inserting members to org units through interface tables.
For Security Group, you can insert data into knta_security_groups_nls using the sequence "KNTA_SECURITY_GROUPS_S". Also to add the access grants to security group you need to insert data to "knta_access_security" table using data from table knta_access_grants_nls.
This is rather a tedious way.
If you have a non-prod instance then I would recommend to create the security group and add the access grants manually. Once created you can then create these groups in Prod by migrating a dummy workflow. The newly created security group should be part of the dummy workflow.
Creating Resource Pools and configuring resource participation in the pool can be tricky. Tables involved here are RSC_RESOURCE_POOLS, RSC_RP_DISTRIBUTION_ENTRIES.
Hope this helps in providing you insight on how data is stored within PPM.
