PPM Support Tip: Prevalidation ERROR: gaps_in_periods

Knowledge Base article: KM00742295

During prevalidation towards an upgrade, an error is thrown and the prevalidation log shows the following:

ERROR: gaps_in_periods_Month

Cause:

Fiscal periods of the month type contain gaps.

Action:

Please contact the PPM Administrator to correct the month definitions to ensure that the fiscal periods contain no gaps.

Current End Date

Next Start Date

Current End Period ID

It can be seen from the ‘Current End Date’ column shows both values for the end date of February to be March 1. That means that there is an overlay in the periods. The end date should be February 28 for both years.

Look at the following tables to find the related columns:

select * from knta_periods;
select * from knta_period_types;
select * from knta_period_groups;
select * from ktmg_periods;
select * from ktmg_period_types;

from the tables, get the Sequence of the periods in question.

Run the following for both rows to fix the issue:

create  table knta_periods_backup as select * from knta_periods;

update knta_periods p

set P.END_DATE = P.END_DATE - 1

where P.PERIOD_TYPE_ID = 4;

and P.SEQ in (1203,1215) ;

commit;

Randall
