(PPM) Support tip: Generating Java Dumps New Feature

On PPM Center version 9.32.0001 has been released a new feature that provides the following two simple ways for you to generate Java dumps (heap dumps and thread dumps):

  1. Using the command sh .\kGenJavaDump.sh
  • Change to the <PPM_Home>/bin directory.
  • Run the command: sh .\kGenJavaDump.sh.
  1. Using the Administration Console

a. Log on to PPM Center.
b. From the menu item, select Open > Administration > Open Administration Console.
c. Select Support Task > Generate Java Dumps.
d. Click Generate.

Note: Java dumps can be generated for started PPM server only.

Best regards,
Randall

Re: (PPM) Support tip: Generating Java Dumps New Feature

Why is this being advertised as a new feature in PPM v9.32_0001?

I see the same feature (server-side script and Admin Console menu option available on our v9.31_0002.

While we have not used it yet, I'm wondering is it the case that it does not work well (or at all?) under v9.31 and has now been improved/fixed under v9.32?

Re: (PPM) Support tip: Generating Java Dumps New Feature

Hi SPCoyne,

Usually the improvements or Enhancements on PPM are ported from a version to a new one, I can barely understand your question, because if there has been a enhancement on a previous version it is supposed to be in the next one. It doesn't mean that it wasn't working good on the previous version.

I hope this answer your question.

Thanks,

Randall

Best regards,
Randall
