PPM is not starting


PPM is not starting. I don't know if the problem is server or application...

See the log below:

The following errors were found which prevent this node starting
PPMUSR1: Port 8080 for HTTP_PORT=8080 is not available for PPM.
PPMUSR1: Port 1099 for RMI_URL=1099 is not available for PPM.
PPMUSR1: Port 8009 for EXTERNAL_WEB_PORT=8009 is not available for PPM.
Node PPMUSR1 sanity failed. See server log for detail.
PPM failed the pre-startup sanity checks and will not start


What I must to do?

The error message is pretty self-explanatory: The ports needed by the PPM server are already used by another process.

It is quite rare to see other applications consume the ports used by PPM, especially if the PPM server has already run successfully for a while on this server.

What's much more common is that your PPM server wasn't closed properly last time, and you still have the PPM Java process running and keeping these ports busy. 

Check if by any chance you don't have a big java process running - if that's the case (and that you know what you're doing), kill it and try to start PPM again.

If you're not sure, there are some commands to run to check which processes are using up these ports. Google can help, whether you're on windows or on linux.
