ThresholdLog is filling up with performance data - Performance Monitor variable is set to FALSE

Hello

I already have few PPM cases opened regarding new version. Since upgrade to 9.31 the tresholdlog file is filling up with performance data even if the all monitor variables are set to false (except background service monitor). I didn't experienced this output in our previous version 9.14.0008.

sample output

JSESSIONID=D60ACE3AA8D4769259F60C998A0CA904.USS_PROD_WEB1,USERNAME=SPI5089:http-bio-8080-exec-136:com.kintana.dsh.portlet.monitoring.PortletPerformanceLogger:2015/06/04-08:28:50.432 EDT: "Thu Jun 04 08:28:50 EDT 2015",36757,"30400","Builder","null",656,"SELECT B.BG_BUG_ID DEFECT, B.BG_RESPONSIBLE ASSIGNED_TO, B.BG_USER_03 QC_STATUS, B.BG_SEVERITY SEVERITY, B.BG_PRIORITY PRIORITY, R.RCYC_NAME CYCLE, B.BG_USER_49 TARGET_RELEASE, b.bg_summary BG_SUMMARY, B.BG_USER_02 DEFECT_TYPE, B.BG_USER_01 ACTIONS

Any ideas?

Re: ThresholdLog is filling up with performance data - Performance Monitor variable is set to FALSE

hmm ... I found this in logging.conf

# Monitor logging
log4j.logger.com.mercury.itg.core.monitor.impl.ActionMonitorLogger=ERROR, THRESHOLD_FILE
log4j.additivity.com.mercury.itg.core.monitor.impl.ActionMonitorLogger=false
log4j.logger.com.mercury.itg.core.monitor.impl.BackgroundServiceMonitorLogger=ERROR, THRESHOLD_FILE
log4j.additivity.com.mercury.itg.core.monitor.impl.BackgroundServiceMonitorLogger=false
log4j.logger.com.kintana.dsh.portlet.monitoring.PortletPerformanceLogger=ERROR, THRESHOLD_FILE
log4j.additivity.com.kintana.dsh.portlet.monitoring.PortletPerformanceLogger=false

# LOGFILE is set to be a File appender using a PatternLayout.
log4j.appender.THRESHOLD_FILE=com.kintana.core.logging.RollingFileAppender
log4j.appender.THRESHOLD_FILE.File=${catalina.base}/log/thresholdLog.txt
log4j.appender.THRESHOLD_FILE.Append=true
log4j.appender.THRESHOLD_FILE.MaxFileSize=250KB
log4j.appender.THRESHOLD_FILE.MaxBackupIndex=20
log4j.appender.THRESHOLD_FILE.Threshold=ERROR
log4j.appender.THRESHOLD_FILE.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.THRESHOLD_FILE.layout.ConversionPattern=%x:%t:%c:%d{yyyy/MM/dd-HH:mm:ss.SSS z}: %m%n

but why this file had no content in previous version ... same setting found in backup

Re: ThresholdLog is filling up with performance data - Performance Monitor variable is set to FALSE

Good Day Peter,

Could you please check if you have this parameter in the logging.conf?

com.kintana.core.logging.SYSTEM_THRESHOLD = DEBUG

If yes, please write ERROR instead of DEBUG.

Also please provide attach again the screenshot for the admin console.

Best Regards,

Carolina.

Re: ThresholdLog is filling up with performance data - Performance Monitor variable is set to FALSE

Please see the following information: https://softwaresupport.hp.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/LID/QCCR1L57170 (PPM 9.30 Not able to stop portlet monitoring)

For 9.30, the following is a workaround to control the Portlet Performance Monitor.

There are four scenarios:
1) Disable both file (thresholdLog.txt) logging and database table (PPM_PERFORMANCE_LOG) logging

In logging.conf:
log4j.logger.com.kintana.dsh.portlet.monitoring.PortletPerformanceLogger=OFF, THRESHOLD_FILE

The parameters can have two options (A) or (B):

(A)
ENABLE_ALL_PERFORMANCE_MONITOR=false
ENABLE_PORTLET_MONITOR=false

(A)
ENABLE_ALL_PERFORMANCE_MONITOR=false
ENABLE_PORTLET_MONITOR=true
PORTLET_MONITOR_PERSIST_STATE=false

2) Disable file (thresholdLog.txt) logging, but enable database table (PPM_PERFORMANCE_LOG) logging

In logging.conf:
log4j.logger.com.kintana.dsh.portlet.monitoring.PortletPerformanceLogger=OFF, THRESHOLD_FILE

The parameters can have two options (A) or (B), R&D don't not suggest to choose option (A) as it will enable all performance monitors:

(A)
ENABLE_ALL_PERFORMANCE_MONITOR=true

(B)
ENABLE_ALL_PERFORMANCE_MONITOR=false
ENABLE_PORTLET_MONITOR=true
PORTLET_MONITOR_PERSIST_STATE=true

3) Disable database table (PPM_PERFORMANCE_LOG) logging, but enable file (thresholdLog.txt) logging

In logging.conf:
log4j.logger.com.kintana.dsh.portlet.monitoring.PortletPerformanceLogger=ERROR, THRESHOLD_FILE

The parameters:
ENABLE_ALL_PERFORMANCE_MONITOR=false
PORTLET_MONITOR_PERSIST_STATE=false

4) Enable both file (thresholdLog.txt) logging and database table (PPM_PERFORMANCE_LOG) logging

In logging.conf:
log4j.logger.com.kintana.dsh.portlet.monitoring.PortletPerformanceLogger=ERROR, THRESHOLD_FILE

The parameters can have two options (A) or (B), R&D don't not suggest to choose option (A) as it will enable all performance monitors:
(A)
ENABLE_ALL_PERFORMANCE_MONITOR=true

(B)
ENABLE_ALL_PERFORMANCE_MONITOR=false
ENABLE_PORTLET_MONITOR=true
PORTLET_MONITOR_PERSIST_STATE=true

Let me know if this helped you.

Best Regards,

Carolina.
