Upgrade Issue

Hello,

I am trying to upgrade PPMC from 7.1 to 7.5 and then to 8 version.

I refreshed the Production data to dev inorder to start the upgrade. I changed all the parameters through kConfig.sh. And when i try to start the Application it throws an error message "Port Already in use JVM_Bind: 8080". Please see the attached files for error message. I even killed the process and tried statring the application but was no luck.

Any inputs would be helpful.

Thanks,

Vamsee.

Re: Upgrade Issue

Hi,

you should use an utility such as netstat to find out which application is opening the port. The following command will provide you the results:

netstat -ab > processes.txt

notepad processes.txt

cheers

Re: Upgrade Issue

As suggested by Alex, try to find the used port.

Secondly on windows environment, such issue is seen, as windows some time cannot kill the process and the Ports are not freed. In such scenario you shall Re-start the machine, it generally solves the problem.

Cheers..

Re: Upgrade Issue

Then try this...

netstat -anb -p tcp

or

netstat -ano

and check if any process is using 8080 port....

If still issue persist then....

In server.conf file.. try to change these values...

com.kintana.core.server.BASE_URL=http://ushouvmivzitg1t:8088/

com.kintana.core.server.HTTP_PORT=8088

Then run kUpdateHtml.sh. before starting the server.

Cheers..

Re: Upgrade Issue

Hi,

maybe the service startup is set up to automatic and when you restart the server, it attempts to start?

Re: Upgrade Issue

Hi,

please read the logs more carefully, since you do not have the same error now.

The new error is "Bad version number in .class file". This means that the java version you are using is not correct.

If you read the upgrade guide and system and compatibility matrix you will see that you need to upgrade the jdk to a specific version when moving to PPM 8.

cheers

Re: Upgrade Issue

My suggestion may seem awkward.... but you can try re-install SP10 (PPM 7.1) to resolved... the file system error.

Cheers..
