Using Search Tasks Menu option

Jump to solution

Hello Team, we are trying to use the Search menu option to search for 'Tasks' based on  Scheduled Start or Scheduled Finish dates.

But there are required fields of '*Task Name starts with' and '*Resource'.

Is there a way to use this Search screen without putting in those required fields?

We just want all tasks falling within a span of dates to list, regardless of project name/resources assigned.

Is there maybe a 'wild card' option that we can use?

Attached is a screenshot of the screen and the error we get.

Is there a way to remove the required field configuration from this search screen or is this only by design?

Appreciate the help.

Frank

Hi Frank,

You should get the behavior you want by simply inputting "_" (underscore character, without the quotes) in the task name field. This should match all tasks with a name of at least one character, which hopefully will match all tasks 🙂

I guess the requirement to input at least one of either task name, project name or project manager is to ensure acceptable response times. So if you use this workaround, search may be slow as a results - you've been warned!

Kind Regards,

Etienne.
