Workflow Action Buttons not available for eligible actors

Scenario: A PM creates a Project Risk, fills out all the required fields, and presses the Complete workflow action button to go to the next step which is 'In PDL Review'.  The security on the WF Step 'In PDL Review' does a lookup on the Project for the resource in the PDL field.

The Status area for Approval Details shows the correct resources that have action for the workflow step.

If there was a resource in the PDL field in the Project when the Project Risk went into 'In PDL Review' everything works great.

PROBLEM: If the resource in the PDL field changes when the Project Risk is in the 'In PDL Review' step, the Approval Details in the Status area shows the correct resources that have action for the workflow step.  However, there are NO ACTION BUTTONS available for the current resource in the PDL field (actor) and the previous resource in the PDL field (former actor) still has the action buttons available.

The Workflow Timeout Reaper Service is running every 30 seconds.

I even ran ,/kRunCacheManager.sh A and that made no difference.

Can you tell us how to get the workflow action buttons to display correctly in this senario?  The work around that we have in place is that the PM or request creator presses the Save button and then the action buttons are available for the PDL.

Thank you

Re: Workflow Action Buttons not available for eligible actors

Hello Jodie,

I hope you're doing great today.

It sounds like the validation of the resource is performed before the transition, maybe you can check that and perform the resource validation where the Project is in the In PDL Review step, or you can create a rule to validate the user on field change so the system is forced to validate the user everytime the value of that field changes.

Also, you might want to check if the new assigned user on that field has the proper grants to view the action buttons of this step.

Hope that helps,

Jason

Re: Workflow Action Buttons not available for eligible actors

Hi Jodie,

I understand you must be using token based security on the workflow step which refers to the resources in the PDL field on the project and agree with your workaround where saving the project makes the workflow action buttons available for the new resource added to the PDL field.

This is a known behavior in PPM where dynamic security is recalculated automatically with save action. There is an  enhancement request #QCCR1L57756 submitted for this functionality. Please confirm the PPM version you are using for additional confirmation.

Thanks
