Cannot install evaluation copy on Windows Server 2008 R2

I am evaluating this product for a large P2V project.
I am trying to install the server on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine,
but the setup keeps failing saying that I haven't configured IIS for
32bit when I followed the instructions in the KB to the letter. I
double checked the applicationHost.config file as well and 32bit is
enabled on all my application pools and in the defaults.
Please advise.

Make sure the Web Server role is fully installed and the .NET feature is
fully installed.

I had the same issue. Needed to install the IIS 6 Management
Compatibility functions in the Web Server Role.
