Platespin Migrate 12.0 - Firewall ACL

Hello,

We are doing Platespin Migrate 12.0 POC for a major client in US . We
need help regarding Firewall rules which are required between
datacenters. I did go through the NetIQ KB/Document regarding the
firewall ports but need some clarification as below

1. For the discovery of source and Target (Which is vMware Virtual
Center) bidirectional TCP port 443 and/or 80 has to be opened between
both the DC. Is this correct?
2. Bidirectional TCP 3725 port which will be used for file transfer ,
server sync ect has to be opened between source workload and the
Target. Now the question is what is the target? (VM/vCenter or ESXi
Hosts).

* will be target be the vCenter or the ESXi hosts IP or the target
VLANs

3. NetBios 137-139 has to be opened between Source workloads and
Platespin Migrate server only?
4. SMB (TCP /139, 445 and UDP/ 137, 138) has to be opened between source
workload and Platespin Migrate server only?
5.TCP 22 port is required to be opened between source workload and
Platespin Migrate Server only?
6. TCP/135, TCP/445 will be required to be opened between source
workload and Platespin Migrate Server only?

Thanks & Regards

Manas

That sounds about right but you can double check the communication
requirements at http://tinyurl.com/jhubwtp. If the Windows firewall is
enabled on the source, you can either permit file and printer sharing,
or specific inbound rules.

Note that by default it is the target workload which initiates
communications with the source so technically speaking port 3725 may be
uni-directional.

Hi,
Port 3725 is not uni-Directional. As it is in initial migration it is
Uni-Directional. But for ServerSync (Thick Client) / Incremental (WEB
UI) port 3725 should be available.

Port 3725 on the target is controlled by PlateSpin (Either X2V / X2P).
It is the project team responsibility to open the port for
bi-directional communication in the complete network (from Source DC to
Target DC).
